Bring it Home Backpack Program:

This is a non-profit organization with a mission  to provide food for school children who may otherwise have inadequate food to eat on the weekend or extended school vacation. For more information about the program or volunteer opportunities, please visit their website by clicking here.

Chippewa County Family Services:

When Salem is contacted by individuals for financial assistance/emergency & crisis assistance, we direct them to Chippewa County Family Services. Salem, as well as other local churches, give to a designation of Family Services called "St. Martin's Fund" to help in these situations. Visit their website by clicking here for a complete list of services offered.

Chippewa County Mentoring Program

Mentoring matters - "youth in our community need a healthy and caring connection with adults." As an individual or a business, you may be able to volunteer time or resources to mentoring youth in our community. Food for Friends

Food for Friends is a mini food shelf box, located on the East side of the Woodland Centers building in Montevideo (old Thrifty White building). Anyone can donate (non-perishable items) or take needed food items from the box at his or her convenience.

Grief Share - Montevideo Grief Support Group

This local community support group offers help and encouragement after the death of a loved one. This group is open to everyone and meets on Mondays at the Refuge Church Youth Center "The House," 1023 Benson Rd. Montevideo. MOMA (Moms of Montevideo Area):

This open community group for Moms of babies - PreK children which meets at Salem on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month September - May, 9:15 - 11:30 a.m. Find them on Facebook for more information, by searching "Moms of Montevideo Area" in the FB search bar.

Montevideo Community Meals

Montevideo Community Meal's mission is to provide a free meal once a month at the Montevideo Community Center. This meal is served on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 5:30-6:30 p.m. All are welcome and donations are optional.

Prairie Five of Chippewa County:

Relay for Life of Chippewa and Yellow Medicine Counties:

Salem & Friends dedicate time each year to fundraising and participating in our local Relay for Life event. The 2019 Chippewa and Yellow Medicine Counties Relay for Life event was held on Friday, May 17 in Montevideo's Smith Park. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of all types of cancer and to participate in fundraising for the American Cancer Society
