When Salem is contacted by individuals for financial assistance/emergency & crisis assistance, we direct them to Chippewa County Family Services. Salem, as well as other local churches, give to a designation of Family Services called "St. Martin's Fund" to help in these situations. Food for Friends
Food for Friends is a mini food shelf box, located on the East side of the Woodland Centers building in Montevideo (old Thrifty White building). Anyone can donate (non-perishable items) or take needed food items from the box at his or her convenience.
MOMA (Moms of Montevideo Area):
This open community group for Moms of babies - PreK children which meets at Salem on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month September - May, 9:15 - 11:30 a.m. Find them on Facebook for more information, by searching "Moms of Montevideo Area" in the FB search bar.
Montevideo Community Meals
Montevideo Community Meal's mission is to provide a free meal once a month at the Montevideo Community Center. This meal is served on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 5:30-6:30 p.m. All are welcome and donations are optional.

Relay for Life of Chippewa and Yellow Medicine Counties:
Salem & Friends dedicate time each year to fundraising and participating in our local Relay for Life event. The 2019 Chippewa and Yellow Medicine Counties Relay for Life event was held on Friday, May 17 in Montevideo's Smith Park. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of all types of cancer and to participate in fundraising for the American Cancer Society.
