THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS: Thrivent Choice® is a charitable grant program where members can participate at different levels based on their involvement with Thrivent Financial. Eligible members can recommend where Thrivent distributes a portion of its charitable outreach funds each year. They do this by “directing Choice Dollars”® to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations they care about; Salem Lutheran is one of those organizations.
Benefit members can direct Choice Dollars in one of two ways:
• Online HERE. Select "log in" at the top right of your screen and enter your MyThrivent user ID and password.
• Call 800-847-4836 and when prompted, say "Thrivent Choice." Or you can call Thrivent representative Mark Sannerud at 320-269-7211 to help.
Important is the deadline of March 31st to direct your current choice dollars.
USED TABLES ARE AVAILABLE FOR A MINIMUM DONATION:The Salem Council has decided to sell all the round brown tables that have now been replaced (thanks to a very generous anonymous donor for designating funds to replace Salem's tables). Salem is asking for a minimum donation of $25 per table. Each of these brown round tables is 60" in diameter with folding legs, and the conditions vary from good to fixable to no legs. One brown rectangular table and two card tables are available as well for the minimum $25 donation each.
Of the remaining rectangular brown tables, three have been determined to be useful to keep at the church, and five are being kept for Salem members to borrow for events like garage sales and graduations. The new white tables will not be available for borrowing. All available tables can be viewed in the back corner of the social hall. Contact Ron DeJong, Paul Anderson, or Pr. Matt for more information.

SALEM PRAYER CHAIN
The Salem Prayer Chain is a volunteer group of Salem members who pray by request for the needs of others. Prayer requests may be for yourself or someone else, and may be for healing or other challenges in life. Requests can remain anonymous if you wish, and privacy of individuals is always respected. Please contact Ruby Flickinger at 269-2220 or 226-8591 with any requests you may have. This is different from the Sunday prayers listed in the bulletin. To be included in the Sunday prayers, please call the Salem office (269-7624) or e-mail us (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you are interested in visiting our homebound, others who would like a visit, or if you yourself would like a visit, please contact Robin Schwaegerl at 269-7576 or Meredith Brown at 269-5676.
Since the remodeling of the Salem kitchen, attention has been given to freshening the rest of the Social Hall. After many years of service, several of our existing tables are structurally unsound and/or showing wear. They are also very heavy and difficult to maneuver. Last Fall, a task force began investigating the purchase of replacement tables. The existing folding chairs are still in good condition and don’t need to be replaced at this time. Thanks to an anonymous donor and proceeds from last year’s chili supper, Salem has 12 new round and 9 new rectangular tables. MANY THANKS to the very generous donor and to all who support Salem’s chili supper in so many ways.
“Thank God we didn’t get more snow!” was the unanimous opinion expressed by the Salem Churchmen on Thursday, February 21 as they prepared for their annual chili supper. The break in the weather apparently stimulated appetites for chili and the opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors. A large and enthusiastic crowd gathered to enjoy the good food. A big ‘Thank You’ goes out to all the Salem members who helped with the cooking, serving, selling tickets, advertising and cleanup. Also, thank you to everyone who provided the delicious bars. The (40th something) Annual Chili Supper was a huge success and raised over $1,800!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the congregational vitality survey! We had a presentation and discussion of the survey results on Sunday, February 3, lead by Pr. Larry Strenge, Director of Evangelical Mission of the SWMN Synod-ELCA. Survey results are available at Salem in the office and on the Usher stand in the Sanctuary.
Thank you for your cooperation as Salem has adjusted away from bulk mail service. you are still receiving a paper newsletter and you wish to only receive it electronically, please send an e-mail to: email@example.com
